HYBRID EVENT: Climate Change and Biodiversity Loss – Can We Really Turn the Tide? And What Can Illinois Offer?
Learn about the connections between Mongolia and Chicago, the role of bison in the grasslands ecosystem, and the unique ecological diversity found in southern Illinois and the Chicago city limits. From migratory bird pathways, to quagga mussels in the Great Lakes, to the re-establishment of buffalo herds on tribal lands, this breakfast will provide an opportunity to learn about the unique natural resources of Illinois and the challenges they now face due to the twin crises of climate change and biodiversity loss.

As Executive Director and Midwest Partner, Georgie Geraghty '90 leads a dynamic team in Illinois focused on addressing the dual crises of climate change and biodiversity loss in the region and around the world. Georgie leverages her passion for nature, experience as an attorney and her work in conservation, community engagement and business to ensure the resilience of people and nature through the implementation of The Nature Conservancy’s (TNC) breakthrough ideas. Georgie graduated from Princeton in 1990 with a degree in Public Policy. She also holds a Master’s degree in Forestry from Oxford University (UK) and a law degree from Yale.
