Arne Duncan, a leading advocate for gun violence prevention, is the Managing Partner at Chicago CRED (Create Real Economic Destiny), a non-profit dedicated to reducing gun violence in Chicago. With an extensive background in education reform, Duncan served as the United States Secretary of Education from 2009 to 2015 under President Obama. Prior to that, he led Chicago Public Schools as Chief Executive Officer from 2001 to 2008. A lifelong Chicagoan and former professional basketball player, Duncan’s dedication to community-driven change has left a lasting impact on Chicago and beyond. At Chicago CRED, he tackles systemic issues affecting young people, emphasizing economic opportunities and supportive interventions. Additionally, he serves as a senior fellow and Special Advisor to the Dean at the University of Chicago’s Harris School of Public Policy, where he continues to advocate for transformative public policy.
