The Princeton Club of Chicago invites you to learn about venture capital and Princeton startups from Jim Cohen '86 and Mark Poag '93, Managing Directors of Fitz Gate Ventures, an early stage venture capital firm with a focus on companies founded, managed or owned by Princeton alumni, faculty or students. Jim and Mark will discuss the tremendous strides Princeton has made in the entrepreneurship curriculum in the last 15 years, culminating in the creation of the Princeton Entrepreneurship Council, and also discuss the landscape of Princeton startups they have seen.

Jim is an experienced public company officer and director with a background in investment banking, corporate law, private equity and M&A/strategy. Jim’s career has been focused on making investments in growing businesses. In addition to graduating from Princeton, Jim earned a JD from the NYU School of Law.

As a successful software entrepreneur that helped lead a company from start-up, through rapid growth, market dominance and ultimate strategic sale, Mark has first-hand experience of what it takes to start, grow and sell a successful business. In addition to graduating from Princeton, Mark earned an MBA from Tulane University and a JD from Tulane School of Law.
