Bomba and the Abolition of Slavery in Puerto Rico

Join PCC and Chicago Association of Latino Princeton Alumni (ALPA) for Bomba: Rhythm, Resistance and Liberation, a 2-hour free introductory workshop in bomba percussion, dance, and history curated and presented by the Segundo Ruiz Belvis Cultural Center. In this two-hour introduction, participants will learn foundational bomba rhythms, the call-and-response language between dancer and drummer, and the basics of baile de bomba – where movement leads and the drum responds. No experience necessary. Event is in connection with the Goodman Theatre’s Centennial Season 100 Free Acts of Theater.
