ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE: IT HAS MANY STARS, BUT DOES IT HAVE A NORTH STAR?
The Princeton Club of Chicago welcomes you to dinner and conversation with Professor David W. Miller, Director of the Princeton Faith & Work Initiative. David will lead us in a precept discussion, drawing on his recent invitation to the Vatican, some formal and informal meetings he had there, as well as his remarks at the Shape the World Summit 2025 in Rome. Artificial Intelligence was a common thread throughout, not so much on its technical capabilities but on its ethical north star and the role of faith traditions in shaping the latter. David will tie this back to our daily professional lives, including insights from his teaching in the classroom and his advisory role in the boardroom.

David brings an unusual “bilingual” perspective to the classroom and the boardroom. Since 2008, he has been on the faculty of Princeton University, serving as the founding Director of the Faith & Work Initiative (FWI), a Senior Professional Specialist, and Lecturer. Prior to academia, he spent 16 years in senior executive positions in international business and finance, including eight years in London.
At Princeton, the nickname of his signature course is “Professional Responsibility & Ethics: Succeeding Without Selling Your Soul.” Outside of Princeton, he serves as an advisor to CEOs and C-suite executives in some of the most competitive and challenging industry sectors around the globe. An article in the Wall Street Journal featured his work helping Citigroup develop a framework for institutional and individual ethics, referring to him as an “on-call ethicist.” David’s new book, “Succeeding Without Selling Your Soul: The 5 Essential Elements of Ethics” (Princeton University Press) is forthcoming later this year.
